104 Poplar Event Venue is now open in Livermore as a space for events, gatherings and weddings.
Venue owners Kraig and Beth Kassinger opened 104 Poplar in November 2020.
âWe really liked the old building,â Kraig Kassinger said. âA friend of mine owned it for 36 years and used it for storage, but then he retired, so we bought the building from him. We always wanted to and thought we were going to make it something the community could use.
The Kassingers said people contacted them and said the location was something needed in Livermore and McLean County.
âI think it offers a way to come together and build better relationships between the county and the community,â said Beth Kassinger.
The venue is located in the old Old Chair Factory office building.
Kraig Kassinger said when the venue opened, business was slow due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
âWhen we first opened it I think people were afraid to go out,â he said. âWe still had nearly 30 people come to our open house. “
According to Beth Kassinger, the first event they booked on site was in February and it is now booked every weekend until part of May.
âI think the biggest difficulty we had with COVID-19 was when we were renovating and trying to get our materials in on time,â said Beth Kassinger.
Kraig Kassinger said they were aiming to open in July 2020 but due to significant delays the open house date had to be pushed back.
