We are pleased to announce an exciting, community-wide art event – LocoMagic, Estill County’s Bicentennial Celebration Public Art Project –taking place in Estill County in 2008.
LocoMagic is a celebration of Estill County’s Bicentennial in 2008. Our train statue represents a historical part of Estill County’s ties to the railroad industry. 50 trains, designed and decorated by renowned area and national artists, will grace sidewalks and business fronts of Estill County through the 2008 Bicentennial Year.
Beginning with an exciting unveiling of the trains during the “Walk Though 200 Years” event in February 2008; Maps, as well as a website, will guide local residents and visitors to locations of celebration during our 2008 Bicentennial. Our local TV networks, radio stations, and newsprint have committed media coverage for certain events. A positive and measurable impact on tourism is anticipated.
These trains are expected to create a tremendous number of impressions, regional, statewide, and possibly national media coverage, as well as community pride. LocoMagic will generate recognition for the artists and their unique designs, and will be great fun as friends compare and select their favorites. Best of all, proceeds from the event will benefit Estill Development Alliance to provide economic stimulus for our county in order to support necessary projects in the future to help us grow and thrive in the next 200 years of Estill County.
So all aboard as early as possible to make sure you will have a chance to sponsor one of the 50 trains - but hurry - they will be pulling out of the station quickly!
Don't miss out on being a part of Estill County’s past and future! |
